How many days of stock are left — really
FBA stock is recorded every day per marketplace and ASIN. Days of cover is computed from that product’s own sales rate and lead time, not from a fixed threshold. Dead stock is flagged as clearly as low stock — excess inventory is a cost too.
“Below 30 days” does not mean the same thing to everyone
A fixed threshold treats a product that sells two a day and one that sells two hundred as the same case. One of them has a month to react; the other needed to order last week.
Days of cover is computed per product from its own sales rate, and the reorder point includes your lead time — so the warning arrives when you can still act on it.
Excess stock is a cost as well
Low stock is loud: it stops sales. Dead stock is quiet — it pays storage fees month after month and ties up money that could have bought the product that is selling.
Both are flagged, and stranded (unfulfillable) units are counted separately because they are neither sellable nor returnable without action.
Frequently asked questions
How is days of cover calculated?
From the product’s own daily sales rate, with your lead time included in the reorder point — not from a fixed threshold.
Does it include units in transit?
Yes. Inbound units are counted in the cover calculation, so an order already on its way does not trigger a second one.
