What the ad spend returned, and on which product
Sponsored Ads data is readable in eleven breakdowns: product, campaign, ad group, keyword, search term, target, match type, placement, budget and day–hour. Every breakdown is the same data for the same period; ACoS sits on the product row, so which product’s advertising is eating the profit is visible without opening a campaign report.
A campaign report cannot answer “which product”
Campaigns are a way of organising spend, not a way of measuring products. One campaign can advertise several ASINs and the report gives you one ACoS for all of them.
The product view turns the question around: this product, this spend, this ACoS — next to the margin that has to cover it.
The same data through eleven windows
Switching breakdown does not switch report: period, marketplace and filters stay as you set them, and the totals keep adding up to the same number.
Every table sorts, and every table downloads as Excel or CSV with the filters applied to the file as well.
Ad timing is read against the baseline
Day and hour breakdowns are only useful against a baseline — otherwise every Monday looks like a trend. The comparison is made against the same product’s own history, not a generic curve.
Frequently asked questions
How far back does Sponsored Ads data go?
95 days. That is Amazon’s own limit; there is no older data to pull.
Can I see ACoS per product rather than per campaign?
Yes, that is the default view. Spend is attributed to the advertised product, so ACoS sits on the product row.
